Interruptions and disputes

RentPC isn't a party to your rental, so agree on the rules up front. Here is a template.

What RentPC can and can't do

We don't hold payments, so we can't issue refunds or force either side to pay. We can remove listings, suspend accounts that break the rules, and keep the conversation history you both see. Reviews are how the community remembers good and bad experiences.

Agree on these before paying

  • Payment schedule: all up front, half and half, or per day/week for long rentals.
  • Interruption on the owner's side (power cut, reboot, network down): how long is acceptable, and how is unused time refunded or made up?
  • Interruption on the renter's side: is unused time refunded?
  • Early cancellation by either side: notice period and refund.
  • What the owner may do if the renter breaks the agreed use (e.g. mining): end the session immediately, with or without refund.

Template (copy into your conversation)

  • Machine: [listing title]. Period: [start] – [end], time zone [ ].
  • Price: [amount + currency] per [hour/day/week/month]. Total: [ ]. Payment: [method], [schedule].
  • Owner-side interruptions over [30] minutes are made up with extra time or refunded pro rata within [3] days.
  • Renter cancels with at least [24] hours' notice: full refund of unused prepaid time.
  • Not allowed: [mining / reselling access / …]. Breaking this ends the rental without refund.
  • Both parties confirm by replying “Agreed”.

If you can't resolve it

  • Keep everything in RentPC messages; it's your record.
  • Report the listing or user if rules were broken.
  • Contact your payment provider about buyer protection, and the police in case of fraud.
  • Leave an honest, factual review once the rental is marked as ended.
